Kudos to the new Indianapolis Airport! I flew in and out for the first time yesterday and today and don't remember having a better airport experience...

I am going to put all controversy as to the value and cost justification of the new airport aside for a minute. From a straight usability perspective, I have to give the new airport great marks on the layout, design, and flow. I was in and out of there in a few short minutes. Parking was easy, shuttles were frequent and efficient, the traffic flow was excellent, and to top it off my baggage was waiting for me when I got to the carousel. In fact, from the time the plane touched ground until I was cruising down I70 it was probably a total of 5 minutes.

I am not going to leap to any conclusions as I may have just gotten really lucky and this MAY have been an anomaly, but regardless, I didn't realize how bad the logistics of the old airport really were until experiencing the new. I don't know if I ever waited less than 20 (and often 30) minutes for my luggage at the old airport, then 10 more for a shuttle.

In any case, for all the haters out there, it really is pretty nice. And again, while I have no idea the big picture price/ value equation to the tax base, I will say that valuable time will be saved with the improved flow and design and THAT, is a VERY good thing after a long trip!!
