What is Pickylist? An Indianapolis based social news and marketplace.

Why only Indianapolis?

Taking over the world is simply to overwhelming, our own backyard is big enough.

How are you going to monetize PickyList?

  • Tasteful, relevant and localized Advertising packages
  • Super Account Mode for people who want to do more with the Picky
  • Selling landing pages on the Pickylist platform
  • Give the content providers (the indy people who post on Picky), the ability to use their own Google Adsense code to turn their content in to cash.

What is PickyList built on?

Our own custom platform that has been in the works for the last 2 years - but ultimately it is a traditional LAMP app that's running in Aptana's Beautiful Cloud.

Could I run my own version of PickyList?

Yes, contact Mark for more information about running your own version of the Pickylist platform (OpenGreet).

Does PickyList offer an API?

We have a working draft of an OpenSearch based API for searching through the posts.

How do you get Posts to look like this one?

The big textarea of the posting form takes ALL HTML Tags (except javascript) - Yes, this means you can include CSS and absolutely position your content - and then remove all branding from PickyList - if you were so inclined :). More on Hacking Pickylist later.
