I have an unusual request/amazing opportunity. We have forged a very strong relationship with a few ownership groups in Indianapolis of Little Caesars Pizza franchises. We coordinate 8 individual stores and 240 monthly "food rescues" for them. The waste can be 8-20 pizzas per day, and sometimes more.
One "route" is a "southside" route, and it frequently nets over 100 pizzas in a day for 6 franchises. From the north side, that would be easily a 3 hour commitment. Currently, we only have 4 of 7 days filled for the those 6 franchises. In short, 300 pizzas per week are routinely discarded due to logistics.
My hope was that I could bring it to the entire group, and that I might be able to find 12 "Warriors" to take on this task once a month, either on a Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday. The route would begin at 10:00 AM, and end as soon as you arrived back to Third Phase. Third Phase has indicated to me that they are serving 50 different families each day, and that their freezer is often empty, and we have exhausted our contacts on the South Side in regards to organizations to receive the food. Third Phase would like to give everyone they serve 2 or 3 pizzas each visit. Due to the route being a long way away for most, and longer service than we normally ask, I realize that this is above and beyond the call of duty, yet the absurdity of knowing about 250 pizzas per week are being thrown out weekly is something I really feel we can do something about, and I wanted to bring it to everyones attention. We would even ask that people consider taking on one of these 12 slots, and maintaining their current slot until we could get it filled. Thank you for your consideration in advance, and thank you for everything you do to serve people in need in our community.
